Pluck Teas is another great Canadian brand I am super excited to blog about. Jennifer Commins founded the Toronto based company in 2012 with a commitment to organic and locally sourced ingredients. I’ve been fortunate enough to be gifted a few of their blends from friends and family and today’s review focuses on their After Eight Tea.
After Eight Tea is a delectable blend of rooibos, cacao nibs, mint leaves, calendula petals, and natural flavour. I am a huge fan of rooibos as a caffeine-free tea base. Not only does it let you sleep soundly but it is also generally good for your health. I love this tea for a soothing after dinner treat as the cacao and mint are present in the flavour but not overpowering. The word that comes to mind is gentle. While it doesn’t taste exactly like an After Eight treat, it is nonetheless a great tea. It is also delicious with a splash of milk and a little bit of your choice of sweetener to make it a full on dessert after a big meal. Be sure to steep it the full length of time if you can, to ensure you get as much flavour as possible.
Recommended preparation: 1.5 tsp per cup for 3-7 minutes at 100C/212F
